Google has been announced as a founding partner for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LA28), as well as a key technology partner for Team USA and NBCUniversal’s Olympic coverage. The partnership positions the tech giant at the heart of the most technologically advanced Olympic Games ever staged. As the official cloud and AI provider of LA28, Google will bring its full suite of digital tools, including Google Cloud, Gemini AI, and Search AI Mode, to transform both the operational and fan-facing sides of the Games.

Powering the Most Connected Olympic Games Ever

Through Google Cloud, LA28 organizers will use enterprise-grade applications to manage large-scale planning and logistics. This includes support for more than 70,000 volunteers, event scheduling, venue management, and real-time data processing across every level of operations.

The integration of AI will also enhance sustainability and accessibility planning, ensuring that the Games’ infrastructure and workforce operations are managed efficiently.

As Casey Wasserman, President of LA28, explained: “This partnership is a testament to our commitment to innovation and delivering a technologically advanced, engaging, and digitally accessible Games when we welcome the world in 2028. Google’s suite of products and tools will uplift the athlete, fan, and workforce experience, helping attendees navigate venues, share their experiences, and stay informed in real time.”

Elevating Broadcasts with NBCUniversal

Google’s role extends beyond infrastructure to the storytelling side of the Games. Through its partnership with NBCUniversal, the official U.S. broadcaster of LA28, Google’s AI Mode and Search tools will be built into NBC’s coverage.

Fans will be able to access real-time results, athlete profiles, and interactive statistics via Google Search and Gemini during live broadcasts on NBC and Peacock. NBC will also collaborate with YouTube to distribute short-form clips, highlights, and behind-the-scenes moments from the Games.

This partnership follows a successful collaboration between Google, NBCUniversal, and Team USA during the Paris 2024 Olympics, where AI-driven search features allowed fans to explore schedules, medal counts, and athlete stories more intuitively.

Marvin Chow, Google’s VP of Marketing, noted: “With tools like Gemini and new Search features such as AI Mode, it’s easier than ever for people to find the information they’re looking for, no matter how simple or complex. Our partnership with LA28, Team USA, and NBCUniversal builds on our successful collaboration from last summer, making the Olympic and Paralympic Games more personal and interactive for fans with the help of AI.”

Supporting Team USA with Data and Insights

Beyond broadcasting, Google is also partnering directly with Team USA to help athletes and coaches leverage data analytics for performance optimization.

Using Google Cloud’s AI and machine learning tools, Team USA can analyze training sessions, monitor recovery patterns, and gain real-time insights into athlete performance. The company will also assist in creating digital content around Team USA before and during the Games, deepening the connection between athletes and fans.

The partnership will extend to the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina 2026, making it a multi-Games commitment between Google and the U.S. Olympic movement.

A Growing Network of Tech Partners

Google joins a roster of leading technology brands supporting LA28, including Cisco, Deloitte, and T-Mobile. Deloitte replaces Atos as the lead technology integrator for the Games, while Cisco provides networking solutions and T-Mobile manages telecom infrastructure.

Together, these companies will power everything from venue design and event planning to public Wi-Fi and broadcast infrastructure, collectively helping LA28 achieve its vision of a digitally native Olympic Games.

A Home Games for Silicon Valley

The LA28 Olympics will be the first Summer Games held in the U.S. since Atlanta 1996, and the first U.S.-hosted Olympics overall since Salt Lake City 2002. With Los Angeles located just south of Silicon Valley, the event will serve as a global showcase of American innovation.

Organizers expect the Games to generate $7.1 billion in total revenue, including $800 million to $1 billion in new commercial deals in 2025. Google joins other high-profile founding partners such as Starbucks and Honda, all of which will feature across LA28’s branding and NBCUniversal’s storytelling platforms.

As the Olympic movement enters a new digital era, Google’s integration of AI, cloud computing, and immersive media will help redefine what it means to experience the Games, both for fans and the athletes who inspire them.
